Update for April 12, 2006

CCSP -No till Farm

News for the Week:

Rain fall for the week was light, .28 inches.  Fully saturated soil will still require some serious drying weather before there will be any field work.  I haven't seen any one out picking rocks yet, but should be close if no rain.  The winter wheat is coming back to life. At least that is what it looks like to me anyway.  Roger Knapp, our winter wheat expert is gone on vacation so I do not have the expert to consult with this week! The ice is off the sloughs as you can see in the picture. Ted and I have been working on equipment, changing oil, seeing what the mice have got into, cleaning the shop and all the usual spring things.  Our new Case IH MX245 tractor that Titan Equipment is furnishing us with should be delivered next week, so we are all very excited about that. I hope I can figure out how to run it!  It will be a transition year for RTK as we have already done our strip till last fall with out the benefit of a guidance system. Now that we have RTK we can straighten up the plots and do strip till the way it should be done!

I want to welcome Trace Hanson to our office crew.  She will be taking over as Watershed Coordinator.  She is also in training to take over the District Technician job as well, and help me out in the plots. Trace was born and raised near Gwinner and currently lives near Forman with her husband Mark, a daughter BreAnna and son Brandon.

Have a good week.
