General tours start at 4:00

Steak supper starts at 5:30

It has been more than a challenge to get any farming done in any manner you would feel good about this year. We do have crops planted in 180+ plots with only 2 spring wheat plots not in. They will go to a cover crop.  The crops are growing and looking pretty good considering the conditions during planting. Some of the wet plots still look tough and have some drown out.

Some things on the agenda that we can do rain or shine.

Lee Briese will discuss salinity issue and how to manage and prevent them when possible. Weather permitting he will do a soil pit. We will have Dave Breker and Fred Aziz to assist in soil classification in reference to wetland/upland.

Joe Breker, Marty Visto, CCSP board members and myself will discuss plot projects and plans out on the tour. Some items will be fall applied herbicides, herbicide rotation, weed control and cover crops, cover crops in general, seeding techniques, planters, and of course the rotations.

Weather permitting we have a new drill from Amity that has the capability to plant crops at 2 different depths that we hope to demonstrate. This should work well for cover crops consisting of peas.

Farm Talk with Mick Kjar will broadcast live from the site 2:00-4:00.

Strip till machine demo and discussion.

Corn Nematode seed treatment trial discussion by Syngenta.

Herbicide discussions by Bayer and Valent.

Discussion of CCPI funding.

Food:Envirothon crew will be selling rootbeer floats and a steak supper will be served starting at 5:30 to 8:00.

We will have the field day rain or shine, and hope for a nice day.

Hope you can make it!

Bug spray would be a good item to bring!

Have a good week.

Kelly Cooper- farm manager
