CCSP -No till Farm
April 30, 2009
Greetings,
It is just plain slow. Too wet. Too Cold. The winter wheat and alfalfa look good. It's nice to have something planted! I walked through the plots this morning to take the pictures to the right. We had .62 rain yesterday so things were pretty wet. The wetlands are filled up and I suspect there is still frost in the ground. So, not sure when we can get in to plant. Little if any activity in the fields around Forman. I have heard of some planting going on but only in well drained fields on high ground. Someone told me they could not pick rocks with out getting stuck. Some fertilizer is being spread but sounds like that is slow and rigs are getting stuck. I heard that a weather forecaster spoke at the Soybean meeting in Fargo this winter and predicted a strong finish to the winter, late spring, cold summer and early frost. Let hope he is not going to get it right any longer!
If we could manage to get some 80 degree temps next week instead of the mid 60's we could change in a hurry. We can only hope.
Have a good week.
