2008 field day Info

July 6, 2008

Greeting,

Wow! Things are really starting to grow. About time! I am pretty happy with the flax at least up till today. It sure is beautiful in the mornings. It has been blooming for over a week. The spring wheat is flowering as well. Sprayed it with Prosario last Thursday on one of those rare days with little if any wind. The twin fan tee jets were laying down a wonderful pattern on the heads, a lovely sight indeed. The corn has finally taken on that healthy green color and the beans are starting to get there as well. I hit the corn and beans with another shot of Round Up. 2nd shot on the beans and #3 for the corn. With the price of these crops and the fact the herbicides do work, I think it is a poor choice to try to save money by sparing weed control, just my opinion. The corn needs a lot of heat to make up lost ground and that is just what we are getting today. Low temp last night was in the 60's.

Remember the field day is this coming Thursday.  We are putting three car trailers out with bales, I guess you could call it the "coach seats", but that will help our capacity to get people out faster into the plots. New this year will be a live strip till Demo, weather permitting. You don't want to miss our Environthon teams 1919 keg root beer/float fundraiser. They should taste really good in a 90 degree sunny day!

Have a good week.
