Update for July 24, 2008

CCSP -No till Farm

July 24, 2008

Greeting,

Maturity is really coming along on the wheat. We will try the winter shortly, this weekend or early next week. The spring wheat is starting to turn. Corn is beginning to tassel, which is about a week behind last year, but last year was way warmer. The flax is turning and the soybeans are flowering. We have not had any more that .26 inches of rain at one time in the last month, but there have been four shots of small rain. It has just been enough to keep things looking nice. A couple of the warmer days the corn was rolling in a few spots. I have not seen any soybean aphids, although I have heard of a few people spraying. The pigweed is sure taking off where it has a chance. We will spray the edges of the plots in the next couple days.

Remember the Oakes irrigation field trial field is this coming Tuesday. Walt has a lot of things going on so it should be a good day.

Have a good week.
