CCSP -No till Farm
July 17, 2008
Greeting,
On behalf of the CCSP board I want to thank all of you who made our field day such a great success. Whether you were an attendee, a sponsor or both, your contribution is much appreciated. We had an excellent turn out with around 50 at the training tour and 155 at the main tour. My thanks to the presenters, John Lee of Agvise, Jay Fuhrer of NRCS, Marcia McMullen of NDSU, Titan Machinery and RDO , and Jodi DeJong Hughes of Minnesota extension service. They all did a wonderful job.
On the farm the winter wheat is nearing maturity. In fact when I get done on this article I will jump on the sprayer to do the pre harvest Round Up. The corn is growing nicely but is behind on heat units. The flax is nice this year, as the weed control strategies appear to be holding. Soybeans have taken off as well. We just need a nice shot of rain!
The cover crops have been attracting quite a little attention. We will be working with them for the next several years so if you have a questions or input, just let us know!
Have a good week.
