April 13, 2008

Greetings,

Looks like we are just waiting to get started. Sounds like nice weather this week. The weekly precip map I watch says no rain for 7 days in spite of the low probabilities forecast for the end of the week. As you can see in the pictures taken today we still have some snow. Just west of here there is none left. Oakes got very little to start with anyway. I had one guage out at the office in Forman that showed 0.45 for the last snow. The snow the week before was less than that but we had no gauge out. Our moisture situation is very good. I was out pulling some soil samples yesterday and was still hitting frost so it will take a little bit of warmth to dry up the fields.  I have been able to plant wheat the by the 19th the last 2 years, might have a shot again this year, we will see.

I behalf of the board I want to welcome RDO Equipment for coming on as a Platinum sponsor. Part of  their contribution is the use of a brand new Gator that will be very handy to have on the farm. It is very gratifying to have a sponsor like RDO value the promotion of soil conservation-Thank you!
